How My Bad Day…Got Worse

If you were wondering how my first day of therapy, due to suffering from Post Traumatic Stress, after nearly losing my child went…well…there are no words.

Oh wait! There actually are!

Here is how that day ended. You can imagine the middle part all you want…

Dear Tara,

I am so sorry for making you feel that I was “infringing” upon your pending trademark. If you read my blog, you will see that it was never my intention. I am new to the blogging world(only posting for about four months, no where near your three years) and honestly, it never crossed my mind to Google titles for my blog, especially when the one I picked out was such a common phrase. It is simply coincidence, please know that.

As you’ll see, my blog is about my family and my faith, with a few spurts of product reviews when I have the opportunity. It is nothing more than a pleasure blog, and not one that provides my family income in any way.

I hope you understand that this was all a great mistake.

To be honest, I find it incredibly odd that you are stomping around about the “brand” of your blog, yet you choose to approach this “brand” in such a representation – rude Tweets from you & your friends, a passive-aggressive blog post, and finally this email that slaps me with legal ramification rather than a direct email from you that simply stated, “Oh, Hi! I notice that our blogs are so similar! Since I’ve been blogging longer under that name & it’s about to be trademarked, I would love for you to consider changing your blog name so things don’t ever have to get messy between us! Best Regards, Tara.” Now, that would have been a far more professional and warm way of handling this obviously non-intentional “infringement” on a not-yet-completed trademark rather than threats and bullying that could potentially tarnish your reputation in the blogging community. Wouldn’t you agree?

To smooth things out, I will immediately begin working on my blog so that you feel it is not a threat to you.

Actually, I am rather excited about this re-“branding” of a “brand” I did not know I had. I honestly just thought of my first dance with my doting husband, and started typing. A rookie mistake, obviously. You may have to explain to me how to “hand over my domain” because my blog-technology “know-how” stops just before researching the name of a blog and not just typing your favorite song title.

I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

Warmest Regards,

Tiffany

To say I was a little offended and taken-back would be an understatement. And yes, there was a spark of anger intially. But, after an email or two with a close friend (ahem) and some prayer on a long, slow, traffic-ridden drive home (yes, the day just kept getting better.) I realized that while this blog title represents something very emotional and special for me, like the thousands of women who have danced across the floor to this special song, I was nothing more than writing for pleasure. I said countless prayers for this blogger and her family, and then I bid it farewell. For I will not dwell on things I cannot control any longer…

I reminded myself that I was just writing because my son’s doctor recommended it, as a way to relieve some of the stress and anxiety after our hospital stay.

Just writing about how empty our new home felt without our son, while he stayed at the local Children’s Hospital and how not too very long ago the world seemed beautiful and perfect as I was spun around the floor in my most beautiuful dress…and how my life was finally starting to “Feel Like Home” again.

But, you know what?

Maybe its time we moved past this. Maybe the therapist would say this was a blessing. That this new chapter can begin and how it isn’t healthy to hold on to those fears and emotions. So, without hesitation, I am letting go of my blog and Twitter titles. I don’t know what title I will choose, but, I can assure you, it will be much more creative than any ‘ole fancy pants song.

Please friends, will you continue to follow me? I’d hate to think of the friendships born and bred under this title as lost as well. Because even if I am letting go of the title that got me through some sleepless, anxiety-filled nights, I am clinging tightly to the bonds and friendships that pushed me through those darker days.

Stay tuned for the big, BLOG & TWITTER NAME REVEAL!

Kisses & Hugs Ladies…Kisses and Hugs….

Oh man. I just went to her blog. Dude, it sucks. Like…totally sucks. Good luck to you. At least you don’t have to worry about that bully anymore.

That woman is obnoxious. I don’t know why anyone reads her. Anyhow, 10 points to you for being the mature one.

I have no idea what your blog name was before, but I totally agree that things could have been handled so much nicer. Just last week, I found a blog that was recently started that was almost identical to mine. I commented to her on Twitter on how great minds think alike, with a link to my blog, and left it at that. I’m not a brand. I’m not out to make money with my ramblings. I post what I’m thinking about at the time. I certainly would not harass someone for having the same taste as me. :) I did end up changing mine up a bit, but not really because of her blog. I was thinking about it already and this gave me the perfect reason to. Kudos to you for being the mature, NICE, one.

oh hi. me again. totally avoiding dinner. anyhoo…i blogged for a while in 2004-5, and quit because of this shit. i swear, the blog world is worse than the high school cafeteria. i got lambasted for "stealing copyrighted material" when i suggested a friday blog post about flashbacks. you know. like flashback friday or something? got emails from some woman, and some of her friends, and yadda yadda crapsticks. this stuff is copyrighted? seriously? just trying to say there are real nut jobs out there. but the up side is, the more you attract, the better exposure you're getting? or something.
